Blitz Center: Assistant Student Technician
Position Purpose
The Assistant Student Technician is part of the Blitz Center team that provides primary technical support for students and secondary support for faculty and staff. An Assistant Student Technician possesses strong communication, troubleshooting and problem solving skills. They provide basic multi-platform technical support for student desktop and mobile devices under the guidance of senior staff. They respond to walk-in visitors, tickets, and email service requests by consulting, identifying, troubleshooting and resolving a variety of technology issues.
The Assistant Student Technician is an entry level position focused on learning and skill development. Successful performance in the role qualifies a staff member for the Student Technician position with increased hours, compensation, and further advancement opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service
- Interest in technology, learning, developing new skills, and helping people
- Basic computer literacy and comfort with Windows and Mac operating systems
- Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical clients
- Strong communication (listening, verbal and written) and organizational skills
- Ability to provide logical and effective troubleshooting
- Even-tempered, positive and approachable attitude
- Diplomatic and able to manage stressful situations
- Enthusiastic and empathetic consultant for students, faculty, and staff
- Team player
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Mac and Windows computers
- Experience providing superior customer service
Key Accountabilities
- Follow all policies and procedures
- Correctly document all client interactions and support work performed in the ticketing system
- Provide outstanding client service by responding to walk-in visits, eChat, and email service requests in a friendly and professional manner
- Provide basic multi-platform software and hardware support for student, faculty, and staff technologies under guidance of more senior technicians
- Proactively work to complete Core Competencies training
- Perform operational and minor project tasks
- Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others
- Performs other duties as assigned
