macOS - How do I check if an app is 32-bit or 64-bit?

Body

Details

  • From the Apple menu, choose About This Mac.
  • Click the System Report button.
  • From the system report, scroll down to Software in the sidebar, then select Applications.
  • When you select an individual application, you will see a field titled 64-bit (Intel). “Yes" indicates 64-bit; “No" indicates 32-bit.
    • You can sort the column to group the Yes and No results.

Also note 'Obtained from' column, and whether the app is a 64-bit app from an 'Identified Developer', 'Mac App Store' or 'Apple' then there should be no issues, but if it says 'Unknown' you may experience problems with it in the future.
