MS Word - How to troubleshoot problems that occur when you start or use Word

Issue

MS Word (Windows) started opening in a larger window.  I was able to get the window size to resize for a day (involved setting the desired size and closing Word in a special manner
(where is that article that I followed?)), but rebooting knocked out the change. How do I set a permanent size for Word when it opens?

Normal.dot file has been corrupted or changed

Resolution

Repair or replace normal.dot
