Outlook Interface Appearance

Microsoft continues to change the functionality of Outlook for MacOS. Most noticeable for long-time users is that the interface itself has changed, including some functionality. Currently, users are able to switch between the New Outlook interface and the Classic Outlook interface. Microsoft is still gathering feedback on the new interface, so the ability to switch may eventually disappear. For now, you can make the following configuration change:

  1. Launch Outlook for MacOS
  2. On the right-hand side of the Outlook window, next to the Search box, there is a slider to enable/disable New Outlook. Choose your preference, but note the following regarding New Outlook:
    1. Notes and Tasks are not saved locally and you will lose access to these items if you switch. Clicking on the Notes or Tasks icons will take you to a web version of that functionality.
    2. You may also lose access to some contact groups stored locally on your computer.
    3. Some attachments may not appear correctly in email messages.
