What is Changing

  • Sending Faxes
    • You will now send eFaxes through the Zoom client. This is the recommended way to reliably send eFaxes.
    • The Zoom client allows users to view shared eFax history.
    • You can now send eFaxes with your Dartmouth assigned Zoom number.
  • Receiving eFaxes
    • Incoming eFaxes can now be routed to any Zoom Phone user in your department, plus up to 3 additional email addresses.

Limitations

  • Online Fax currently supports black and white faxes.
  • Encrypted PDFs for faxing are currently not supported
  • The acceptable file formats are PDF, JPG, JPEG, TXT, PNG, DOC, and DOCX. The total attachment size must not exceed 50 MB.
  • There is a maximum limit of 50 faxes that can be sent simultaneously. You must wait until those faxes have completed before sending additional faxes.

What is NOT Changing

  • Fax number from GoToConnect will remain the same when your eFax is migrated to Zoom.
  • You can still receive and view eFax via your email client.

When Is the Change Taking Place?

  • We plan on migrating eFaxes from GoToConnect to Zoom between September through October.
  • We can work with your department to choose a day that fits your schedule to port your old fax number from GoTo to Zoom.

Action Required

  • If you have an existing eFax with GoToConnect, a survey will be emailed over for you to fill out to let us know if you would like to continue using eFax
  • Ensure that you have the zoom client installed with the latest version
  • Designate an eFax administrator
    • The eFax administrator can add/remove user access.

Will there be an Outage

  • During the date we schedule your number porting, all faxes will be disabled for a short period — typically less than 15 minutes — starting around 11 AM EST.
  • eFax with GoToConnect will continue to operate as normal until 11 AM when your eFax number is scheduled to be ported over to Zoom.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I use an existing number in zoom for my eFax?
    • Yes, if you already have an existing departmental number in Zoom that you'd like to use for eFax, please let us know.
  • Why do we need an eFax administrator?
    • You don't need one, however, with an administrator, you'd be able to make changes to your eFax settings yourself
  • Can I still view eFaxes through email?
    • Yes, you can still view incoming faxes via email.
  • What happens to old eFax history/archived faxes?
    • You should have a copy of all incoming eFax from GoToConnect in your email inbox. We recommend downloading/saving any faxes you need before your migration date.
  • How do we use the new eFax in zoom?
    • Please follow Zoom's Documentation here on how to use eFax.
  • What if my department doesn't have Zoom Phone yet?
    • Please let us know so we can set you up with Zoom Phone.
