Silsby 126 Classroom Overview

Summary

Silsby 126 is a group-learning focused room with an audiovisual system that supports the use of a classroom computer or laptop through wired or wireless connection. Voice lift and a lapel microphone is available for local speech reinforcement. Ceiling microphone and room cameras will capture audio and video to use when joining the classroom to a Zoom meeting. Eight team stations enable presentation content to be distributed or the ability for teams to connect a laptop group work.

Overview

Silsby 126 is a group-learning focused room with an audiovisual system that supports the use of a classroom computer or laptop through wired or wireless connection for presentation. A lapel microphone is available for local speech reinforcement and a ceiling microphone and room cameras will capture audio and video to use when joining the classroom to a Zoom meeting. Eight team stations around the perimeter enable presentation content to be distributed to the stations or the ability for teams to connect a laptop locally to display group work.

Technology Features

Present

Present your digital content from a computer through the projector and speakers.

  • Classroom Computer
    Use the classroom computer for slide shows or other media presentation.
  • HDMI
    Directly connect your laptop or other device to the audiovisual system.
  • Solstice Wireless Display
    Connect wirelessly using the Solstice wireless gateway.
  • Wearable Microphone
    A wearable microphone is available to use for local speech reinforcement.

Join Zoom

Room microphones and cameras will enable remote guests to see and hear activities in the classroom.

  • Join a Meeting
    Set up a Zoom meeting ahead of class and join from the room by entering in the Meeting ID and Password
  • Zoom Share
    Use the Zoom "Share" button in the Zoom desktop client to wirelessly present your content in-room and to any remote participants in the Zoom meeting

Getting Started

Local Presentation

  1. Plug your laptop or mobile device into the HDMI cable (or use the classroom computer) Adapter may be required.
  2. Using the touch panel, select the content you would like to display on the projector (Class Mac, Wireless, HDMI, or Zoom)
  3. Select "Team Stations" if you would like to share the content on the team displays.
  4. Adjust the volume through the fader on the side of the touch panel as needed

When you are finished, please tap the power button in the upper right hand corner to turn off the system

Join Zoom

  1. Set up your Zoom meeting before class and note the Meeting ID and Password
  2. Using the touch panel, select the "Zoom" button and enter in the Meeting ID and Password when prompted
  3. To present content, use Zoom Share from the classroom computer or your laptop

In-Room Microphone

  1. Remove the microphone from the base
  2. Press the front round button to mute and unmute the microphone (indicated by a Red/Green light on the top)
  3. Adjust the volume using the touch panel as needed
