Issue
Certain Dell models experience the following touchpad issues:
- Touchpad stops working after a warm boot (Wake from sleep or restart).
- Touchpad stops working after you use it for about an hour.
- Touchpad stops working after a few minutes, when disconnected from AC power.
Environment
** Windows operating system
This issue is primarily seen on
Latitude 7430
But could also be seen on
Latitude 5430
Latitude 5431
Precision 3470
Resolution
** Dell released a Touchpad Firmware update to resolve this issue. A restart is required after installing this update.
The update has been published in the Dartmouth Software Center. To run this update, do the following:

- Open Dartmouth Software Center from the Start Menu

- Locate 7430 Touchpad Firmware Update in Software Center and click it

- Read the on-screen notes and then click Install to run the update.

- Once install is finished, save, and close your work, then click the Restart button.
- Click Restart again to confirm restart.
