Updating Slack on Desktop and Mobile

Check your Desktop Slack Version

Mac

1. Open the Slack app.
2. From your computer’s top menu bar, click Slack.
3. Select About Slack.

You’ll see the App Store mentioned in the pop-up window if that’s the version of the app you’re using. In this scenario, open up the Mac App store to update Slack. 

Windows

1. Open the Slack app.
2. On Windows 10, click the ☰ three lines icon in the top left of the Slack app, then select Help.
3. Select About Slack.

You’ll see the Microsoft Store mentioned in the pop-up window if that’s the version of the app you’re using. In this scenario, open up the Microsoft Store to update Slack.

How do I know if I need an update?

From the Help menu (for non-App store versions of Slack)

1. Slack will indicate that a new version is needed by a red badge on the Help menu next to the Search bar
2. Click on the Question button to get to the Help navigation to the right where a tile will indicate whether an update is available.

On Windows

• Click the ☰ three lines icon in the top left of the Slack app, then select Help > Check for Updates.

On Mac

• Click the word "Slack" on the top left of the screen, then select Check for Updates

Updates for the Slack App can be found through the App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android.
