Security Settings for Class Meetings in Zoom

Summary

This article covers recommended security settings for class meetings and office hours and for the secure handling of class meeting recordings.

Body

This article covers recommended security settings for class meetings and office hours and for the secure handling of class meeting recordings.   These settings improve security by:

  • Requiring Dartmouth authentication to join a class meeting, while still accommodating guest presenters
  • Using the Waiting Room (set to hold all participants) for holding office hours
  • Promoting cloud recordings made only by the meeting host
  • Promoting streaming rather than download viewing (except where special consideration is needed)
  • Requiring Dartmouth authentication to view cloud recordings
These separate step-by-step illustrated guides show faculty how to apply these settings to existing meetings and how to create new meetings with these new settings.
