Step 1 - Accessing the internet

If you do not have a reliable internet connection then consider using an Xfinity WiFi hotspot.  Once at a hotspot, consumers should select the “xfinitywifi” network name in the list of available hotspots and then launch a browser.

If you have a reliable internet connection but your connection is slow, try one of the following tips to increase the signal.

  • Work closer to your WiFi router.
  • Add a WiFi extender to boost signal in other rooms.
  • Close other programs and limit large downloads.

Step 2 - Accessing Dartmouth Systems and Services

VPN - A virtual private network (VPN) enables you to create a secure connection to Dartmouth's network.  When working off-campus, certain on-campus applications require your computer to look like it is on-campus.  In these situations you will first need to install our VPN client, GlobalProtect.  Thereafter, you will log in to GlobalProtect prior to logging in to applications requiring VPN.

Step 3 - Communicate and Collaborate

Dartmouth has many tools to help you communicate and collaborate from anywhere you have an internet connection.  With the following video conferencing tools you can host and attend video meetings, speak one-on-one to a colleague, and show someone else your computer screen.
