Application blocked by Java security

How to get access to Oracle when you get you receive the message that it was blocked by Java security. This article only applies to Windows computers.

This happens when there are security updates on the vendor's side. To fix the issue, you need to add the Oracle site to your allowed sites in the Java application. Select your operating system below to get to the steps. 

• Windows 10
• macOS

 

Windows 10

1. Open the Control Panel 
2. In the top right corner of the window select View by: Small Icons or Large Icons
3. Select Java(32-bit)
4. Select the Security tab at the top of the new window
5. Select Edit Site List
6. Select Add
7. Fill in https://oa.dartmouth.edu:8007 then select OK
8. You should see the site listed in the Exception Site List
   
    
9. Now you should be able to access Oracle

 

macOS

1. Open System Preferences
2. Select Java
3. Select the Security tab at the top of the new window
4. Select Edit Site List
5. Select Add
6. Fill in https://oa.dartmouth.edu:8007 then select OK
7. You should see the site listed in the Exception Site List
