Dartmouth's software-based phone is called "GoToConnect". There is a version you can install on computer (GoToConnect Desktop) and another version that can be installed on smart phones (GoToConnect Mobile). GoToConnect Desktop can be installed on either Macintosh or Windows computers. Linux users needing a software-based phone would need to use the phone web portal.
Installing GoToConnect Desktop
- Go to https://support.goto.com/connect/help/how-do-i-download-and-install-the-gotoconnect-app.
- Ignore the "Before you can use GoToConnect, you must register your email and a system admin must assign a device profile to you" line.
- Click Download for Mac or Download for Windows as appropriate, and save the installer to your computer.
- Find the file you just downloaded (GoTo.exe for Windows and GoTo.dmg for Macintosh) and double click it to install.
Initial Login with GoToConnect Desktop
- Open GoToConnect. You'll be prompted to give GoToConnect access to your microphone, speakers, camera and system. Click OK to allow this.
- In the Email address field, enter <your NetID@dartmouth.edu> (e.g. D12345A@dartmouth.edu). Click Next then Continue.
- When the Dartmouth web authentication screen appears, enter your Dartmouth NetID and password, and Duo if prompted.
- Click I Agree to agree to the Terms of Service.
- Once the GoToConnect window is displayed, click your profile icon found in the upper right corner, then Settings from the menu that appears.
- Click Voice in the left column. Set your configuration as you prefer.
- Once you're done with your settings, click the Home icon in the upper left section of the window to return to the main screen.
