Find Desk Phone Manufacturer Information

Determining the Make:

Dartmouth has deployed two types of desktop phones: Cisco Systems and Polycom. All of these phones will have a label on the face of the phone letting you know which make you have.

Determining the Model:

  • Some Cisco phones have the model listed in the upper right corner of the face (e.g. 7940 or 7960);
  • Some Cisco phones have the model listed on the back, just to the right of the Cisco logo (e.g. CP-7841 or CP-6921);
  • Polycom phones have the model listed on on the back of the phone (e.g. VVX500).

Determining the MAC Address:

  • Cisco phones have the MAC address listed on the back of the phone on a white label. Some labels start with "MAC" to direct you to the correct number; others just display the number (e.g. 000F8F59D33B or 3820560D9312). On Cisco phones, the MAC address is not the same number as the serial number.
  • Polycom phones have the MAC address listed on the barcode sticker on the back of the phone (e.g. 00:E0:DB:99:AA:0A).
