Printer queue shows as offline

In some circumstances with a printer that has been setup via TCP/IP, there is a communication error where SNMP can't talk to the printer so thinks it is offline.

Turning off SNMP is a quick way to resolve the issue, and is not detrimental to the printing process.

  1. Open the Devices & Printers control panel.
  2. Right-button click on the printer queue that is offline, and select Printer Properties.
  3. Choose the Ports tab, and then click to highlight the printer in the port column.
  4. Select Configure Port.
  5. At the bottom of the deselect the check box for SNMP Status Enable.
  6. The printer should start showing as online again.
