Cannot create/manage rules while using Outlook


When you click Rules > Manage Rules & Alerts the following error occurs:

Outlook Error: "The operation failed because of a registry or installation problem. Restart Outlook and try again. If the problem persists, reinstall." when selecting Manage Rules & Alerts

The issue may occur after installing the following subscription updates and subsequent versions:


This article applies to Windows Outlook Application when the user is attempting to create or manage rules. 


After a recent Microsoft update users who try to create or manage rules in Outlook receive the error.


Reinstalling the client does not fix the issue. This issue is fixed in Monthly Channel Version 1812 (Build 11126.20196) and higher. To check which version, open Outlook and choose File > Office Account > About Outlook 

If you're on an earlier build than stated above, you will need to wait until the next channel update: February 12th, 2019
