Print a Document with GreenPrint Mobile

  1. Send or forward an email to with the document(s) you wish to print attached.
  2. If applicable, wait for GreenPrint to send you an "MobilePrint Notification: Please complete your email registration" email and follow the directions. *This is a one-time process for each email address you send print jobs from. During this process you will be prompted to enter your NetID and password on the Pharos Web Release page so that future jobs sent to GreenPrint from your address will be authorized.
  3. Wait for a reply email from GreenPrint reporting the status of your print job(s) in the queue.
  4. Go to any GreenPrint printer and release your print job(s) as usual. *There will be a several second delay from the time you select print and the time the job actually begins printing. 

Register an Email Address with GreenPrint Mobile

At the beginning of every term Dartmouth loads all student Dartmouth email addresses into the GreenPrint Mobile registry. However, if you would like to send a print job from a different email address you will need to first register that email address to your GreenPrint account. Registration is quick and simple, and there is no limit to the number of email addresses you can register to your account.

  1. Attach the document(s) you wish to print to an email in the email account you wish to register.
  2. Send that email to
  3. Wait to receive the Email Address Registration email from GreenPrint Mobile.
  4. Click the link provided in the email.
  5. Enter your Dartmouth NetID (or GreenPrint Guest Card User Name) and password, and click Submit.
  6. A registration confirmation message will appear when registration is complete.

Once you follow these steps you can send print jobs using this email address to your personal print queue whenever you wish.

Supported File Types

GreenPrint Mobile is capable of printing the following formatted documents (Windows or Mac):

  • Microsoft® Word (.doc and .docx)
  • Microsoft® Excel (.xls, .xlsx, .xlt)
  • Microsoft® PowerPoint (.ppt, pptx and .pptm)
  • Microsoft® Outlook (.msg, .eml)
  • Comma Separated Values (.csv)
  • Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF)
  • Text files (.txt)
  • Rich Text Format (.rtf)

Note: The only supported paper-size is US Letter (8.5" x 11"). Please be sure your document is formatted for US Letter and not for A4, B2, etc.

Other Information

To use Greenprint Mobile you must first go through the email registration process and use a supported document format that Greenprint Mobile is capable of printing: e.g.  .docx, .rtf, .xlsx, .pdf, etc. Please note, the paper size must be US Letter (8.5" x 11"), not US Legal, A4, B2, etc.

  • Smartphones, tablets (iPads, etc.), and any computer/device capable of sending email can send print jobs to the GreenPrint system. There is no software to install. Simply send the files as attachments to from your Dartmouth email account and the jobs will be available to retrieve like usual from any GreenPrint release station.
  • Files can also be emailed from non-Dartmouth accounts after completing a system generated registration request.
  • All print jobs sent through GreenPrint Mobile will print double-sided and will produce a black & white copy if released from a black & white printer and a color copy if printed from a color printer.
  • Multiple attachments can be sent in a single email, with each attachment becoming a separate print job in the queue.
  • The email message sent with the attachment(s) will also become a separate print job.
  • The name of the attachment and the subject line of the email will be the name of the jobs in the print queue.

Please note: Service may vary slightly depending on the device's operating system and connectivity. The maximum file size may be limited by the sending email system. Once you select print for a job in the queue there will be a several second delay between selection and actual printing.
