Enable X Tunneling Using SSH Secure Shell

If you are using an X server, you might need to have a "tunneled connection."

Step-by-Step

  1. In order to turn on X11 tunneling, you first need to create a bookmark; see Create Bookmarks Using SSH Secure Shell/SFTP.
  2. Click Profiles, then Edit Profiles. The Edit Profile window will appear.
  3. Click the name of the profile you are using for an X server.
  4. Click the X11 Tunneling tab.
  5. Check the box next to Tunnel X11 connections, then click OK.

In order to turn on X11 tunneling, you first need to create a bookmark; see Create Bookmarks Using SSH Secure Shell/SFTP.

After you have created the bookmark, you will need to edit the profile (i.e., bookmark) again.

  1. Click Profiles, then Edit Profiles. The Edit Profile window will appear.
  2. In the white box that makes up the left half of the window, click the name of the profile. A window similar to the one below will appear:


  3. Click the X11 Tunneling tab. A window similar to the one below will appear:


  4. Check the box next to Tunnel X11 connections, then click OK.

We recommend naming a regular connection hostname, and tunneled connection.
