Configuring Dartmouth Secure Remote and GoGreen Remote

Dartmouth remote locations including Boston, New York and San Francisco have a secure wireless network that works like the Dartmouth Secure wireless on campus with a secure set identifier of "Dartmouth Secure Remote".

These same locations also have a guest wireless network called GoGreen Remote. The GoGreen Remote network uses WPA2-PSK technology similar to that used on most home networks -- with password only authentication.

Dartmouth faculty, staff and students should use Dartmouth Secure Remote as it has much higher network speeds than GoGreen Remote and the data is encrypted so that it is more difficult for hackers to see what is being transmitted. Guests in the remote offices should use GoGreen Remote.

The Dartmouth Secure Remote installer is different from the standard Dartmouth Secure installer in that it primes the computer for both the campus and remote wireless networks so that employees can travel between the two sites and automatically connect to either network.
