Guest Connection to Wired Network

If you have been granted the ability to create guest accounts for the wired network, follow the steps below.

  1. Go to You will be prompted to log in with your Dartmouth credentials. Make sure to use your NetID and password as access to the Guest Registration system is limited.
  2. Click Guest Manager.
  3. Click Add Guest.
  4. Enter the information and specify the period (the least amount of time required).
  5. Click Add Guest. You will be returned to a list of guest registrations where you will find the registration(s) you just created and the key(s) you will need to provide to the guest(s).
  6. If you have another guest to register, click Add Another Guest to stay at the Guest Entry Form window.
  7. After creating a guest account, give the guest their 8 character guest key. They will be required to enter this key to register their device. Every guest key is valid for a single registration only, and only within the period you specify.

What the guest will need to know:

  • When the guest connects their computer to the wired network, they need to bring up a web browser which will automatically bring them to and prompt them to register their computer.
  • They should click Sponsored Guest link at the bottom of the page.
  • Then, in the Registration key field, they need to enter the key you provided and click Continue.
  • It may take up to two minutes for their system to gain access to the network.
  • Guest accounts and all registrations owned by that guest automatically expire after the period you have selected has elapsed. Registration periods are measured from the exact time you entered the guest into the system; not from the time the guest first connects to the network. This means that if you create a one day registration on 2/1/10 at 11:15:25 a.m. the registration will expire on 2/2/10 at 11:15:25 a.m.
