Here is a summary of the 5 KB statuses. Each one is meant to represent where that article is in its lifecycle.
-Not submitted, the article is in draft mode, not ready to be reviewed
-Submitted, the article is ready to be reviewed by someone, perhaps the knowledge manager
-Approved, the article is ready for primetime, and can be "Published" to the knowledge base for clients to consume
-Rejected, article is not ready, it needs to be improved before it's ready
-Archived, article is old or no longer needed. Archiving is better than deleting since the article is still there for techs, but not visible to client users
